Day 9 - Arts & Theatre

Why not treat your favourite humans with tickets to the finest dance, theatre and music the state of Queensland has to offer? Season subscriptions and single tickets are available for all three of the Brisbane based companies.

Queensland Ballet has been improving in leaps and bounds since Li Cunxin was appointed Artistic Director in 2012, and their 2016 season is their most ambitious yet. From heart-rending Lest We Forget to the big-band, tap-dancing magic of Strictly Gershwin and the annual Christmas magic of The Nutcracker...if you know a ballet lover, you'll find something that they'll love.

QTC's 2016 season looks great - I'm especially keen to see their adaptation of Kate Grenville's novel The Secret River. QTC gets better every time I see one of their performances, lots of young talent moving up the ranks as well as familiar faces. If you're a student, or under 30, there are some great discounts on single tickets as well as ticket packages.

The state's only professional symphony orchestra and Queensland's largest performing arts company. Gorgeous performances from their 88 full-time musicians, plus special guests and special events - last year's special events included Journey Through the Cosmos with Professor Brian Cox, and the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular. In 2016, Indiana Jones is coming to QPAC! There are also the In Conversation series, for a more in-depth discussion
 about the music.
