Brisbane Writers Festival 2018 will be held from 6 – 9 September, with a line-up of over 150 internationally renowned writers, thinkers, and opinion makers considering this year’s theme: what does the world need now?

With the Festival fast approaching, Backstreet Brisbane has a day pass to give away to one lucky reader -- head over to Instagram (@backstreetbrisbane) to enter!

Now in its 56th year, Brisbane Writers Festival is one of the longest running writer’s festivals in Australia. BWF 2018’s line-up is rich with new ideas and aims to showcase the most exciting voices and storytellers from Australia and further abroad.

Authors, academics, activists, and award-winners converge on the State Library of Queensland to explore the answer to this question, with topics that extend from raising teens to ending epidemics and discusses politics, environment, culture, and identity across genres from philosophy and poetry, to crime fiction, literature, children’s writing, historical sagas…

Acting CEO, Ann McLean, says “We all have an idea about what the world needs now. It’s something we’re all talking about, be it at home over the dinner table, at work or online. The 2018 programme gives audiences the chance to think about the future they would like to create for themselves and come away with real, actionable ideas for positive transformation. This year the programme offers up so many opportunities to hear diverse perspectives on the issues that are shaping our world right now.”

Festival Day Passes are available from $70, and single sessions from $15. Ticketing, programme, and further information is available on the Brisbane Writers Festival website.
