Backstreet Christmas Day 6: Jewellery

Tis the season where everything sparkles! Check out these local creators of lovely jewellery:

Each to Own
Kirsten is technically over the border in Northern New South Wales, but her gorgeous pieces are stocked in several Brisbane locations. Each to Own is one of my go-to gifts – from big statement rings and necklaces to more understated studs and cute lil’ pom poms, Each to Own is bright, colourful, and sure to make someone special smile. Check out her glittering work and find stockists on her website.

Serinda Jade creates jewellery from native flowers, encased in resin. Her earrings and pendants make the beauty of the bush wearable, and she does custom orders as well. Rumblesky is stocked in Browns General Store (Paddington), Halcyon Bird (Ashgrove), Wall Flower Floral Design (Sandgate) and Noosa Regional Gallery. Her Etsy store will be restocked on December 13 – keep an eye on her Instagram for updates and to admire her pretty creations!

Birdee and Star
Sparkle, sparkle! Shannan is the designer and creator behind Birdee and Star, and her designs are bold and fun. I also like that she has a focus on sustainability, using eco-resin when she can and packaging in recycled and eco-friendly materials. Also, the Birdee and Star Christmas collection is SO FUNKY. Purchase from her online store or one of her Brisbane stockists, listed on the website.

Blue Beetle Co
Formerly Chickpea Handmade, Chloe makes the brightest and cutest polymer clay earrings – my favourites are her Australian birds, especially the rainbow lorikeets! Another one who is technically over the border (she’s based in Newcastle, NSW), all of Chloe’s earrings are 100% made by hand (no moulds), so no two are alike. She also regularly makes donations of parts of her sales (e.g. $2 from each sale) to charity. Check out her lovely creations at her online store and Instagram.

Shibuya Moon
Designed and made in Brisbane by designer and illustrator Tiffany Atkin, Shibuya Moon launched online only last week – her pieces are “inspired by vintage costume jewellery and a little bit of magic”. Check out her Instagram and online store, restocking on December 12.

Sophia Martika
I met Sophia at the Mammamia Out Loud market event earlier this year. She’s a young Brisbane designer who creates leather earrings, headpieces, handbags, and accessories – check out her Etsy store.
